Bay Media supports Regent’s Roots for a second year

Bay Media has supported Regent’s Roots in Camden for the second year running, contributing £2,000 towards the free community arts and culture festival.

Regent’s Roots returned on Saturday 1 August 2026, taking over the streets and public spaces around Old Diorama Arts Centre for its fifth year.

The programme ran throughout the afternoon, with music, dance and theatre across two stages. Young dancers from ODAC’s Remix Dance performed alongside local singers, theatre groups and artists including Bollyflex and the Third Age Project.

Away from the stages, local organisations and resident associations ran stalls and activities. There were also creative workshops, games, free food and health advice from Camden Council’s mobile health bus.

One of the highlights was the festival’s first South Asian Heritage Month parade. Created with the local community through a series of workshops, it saw hundreds of people dancing along Stanhope Street.

Mariam Hassan, Local Participation Manager at Old Diorama Arts Centre, said:

“We brought our beautiful, diverse community together and there was truly something for everyone! I was buzzing from the energy—especially during our first-ever South Asian Heritage Month parade, which saw hundreds of people dancing down Stanhope Street. Seeing our community represented like that made me so proud. Bring on Regent’s Roots 2027!”

One of ODAC’s Remix dancers, aged 10, summed up the day quite nicely:

“Regent’s Roots is one of the best festivals because even though it isn’t on a proper stage (!), it was full of loads of people and loads of people were watching, having fun and clapping! And then they all joined in at the end for the audience participation!”

Regent’s Roots was produced by Old Diorama Arts Centre, Fitzrovia Youth in Action and the Camden Detached Youth Team as part of Love Camden’s South Asian Heritage Month programme.

This was the second year Bay Media supported the festival, following a £4,000 donation in 2025. We’ve worked with Camden Council for more than 15 years, and it was good to be involved again in an event with such strong roots in the local community.
