Client Stories – BBC Made of Greater Manchester

Working with Talon’s Manchester team, Bay Media has installed 100 double-sided lamppost banners for the BBC’s Made Of Greater Manchester campaign.

The banners feature six different designs celebrating the programmes and personalities connected with the region. Installed on 20 September, they are scheduled to remain on display until 4 October 2026.

Celebrating Greater Manchester

Made Of Greater Manchester is part of the BBC’s wider Made Of Here campaign, celebrating the places and communities behind its programmes. This chapter recognises Greater Manchester’s contribution to television, radio and storytelling, including productions filmed or set in the region.

The wider campaign features programmes such as The Royle Family, Waterloo Road and Small Prophets, alongside voices and personalities associated with Greater Manchester. It also marks 15 years since the BBC’s move to MediaCity in Salford.

For a campaign rooted in local identity, Manchester’s streets are a fitting setting. The banners bring that celebration into the city’s everyday surroundings, alongside the shops, workplaces and transport routes used by residents and visitors.

100 banners across central Manchester

The brief was to give the campaign a presence across the city centre. Bay Media worked with Talon’s Manchester team on the proposed locations, considering how to distribute the banners across several routes.

The installation includes sites around Piccadilly, along Portland Street and Deansgate, and on streets including Corporation Street, King Street and Quay Street. This spread gives the campaign a presence in several parts of the centre, with sequences of banners along the selected roads.

The six designs combine portraits and collage-style artwork around the BBC’s “Made Of Greater Manchester” message. Each banner displays artwork on both sides, providing 200 advertising faces across the installation.

Working with Talon

Bay Media delivered the lamppost banner installation, with all 100 banners confirmed live on 21 September.

The banners form part of a wider BBC campaign spanning other outdoor advertising, film and BBC programming. Our role was to deliver the banner element across the selected Manchester locations.

We’re pleased to have worked with Talon’s Manchester team to support a campaign celebrating the region and its stories.
