Client Stories – Acton BID

The streets of Acton are looking more colourful this autumn, thanks to a unique public art project commissioned by Your Acton BID. In a wonderful initiative to celebrate local culture, 40 of the area’s lamppost banners have been transformed into a street-side art gallery, showcasing designs by local artists.

Lining key routes like Acton High Street and Churchfield Road, the banners bring vibrancy and character to the town centre. Bay Media was proud to partner with the BID to help bring this fantastic vision to life.

Creating a Sense of Place

At its heart, this project is a brilliant example of ‘placemaking’ – the process of transforming public spaces into vibrant hubs that communities can feel connected to.

The goal for Your Acton BID was to enhance the town centre’s atmosphere, celebrate its unique character and create a more welcoming environment for everyone. The project beautifully captures the area’s local identity and creativity.

Natasha Patel, Manager of Your Acton BID, described the vision for the project:

“Acton is a place full of energy, talent, and community spirit. By working with our local businesses to commission these artworks, we’re not only making our town centre more vibrant and inviting but also demonstrating what Your Acton BID is all about: collaboration, creativity, and supporting our local economy.”

The ten banner designs used for the campaign

Art Inspired by Acton

To ensure the designs were a true reflection of the area, Your Acton BID commissioned two local artist groups: The Imprint Hub with ARTification and Tasia Graham with JG Contemporary Art.

The ten unique designs draw inspiration directly from Acton’s heritage. Tasia Graham’s work features Acton Park’s iconic bandstand and abstract patterns representing the area’s diverse communities, with the acorn emblem of Acton woven throughout to symbolise unity. The collaboration between The Imprint Hub and ARTification tells the story of Acton through its architecture, with vibrant depictions of landmarks like the Acton Town Hall, St Mary’s Church, and the former Dominion Theatre.

Bringing the Gallery to the Streets

Lamppost banners were the ideal medium to deliver this placemaking initiative. With 40 banners installed across the town centre, the artwork creates an immersive visual journey, rather than just a single point of interest.

The campaign is set to run for over a year, ensuring the art becomes a memorable and integral part of the Acton streetscape, brightening the daily journeys of residents and visitors.

Our role was to provide the final, crucial piece of the puzzle. The Bay Media team managed the specialist, high-quality printing needed to do justice to the artists’ detailed work, before handling the full installation service across all 40 sites, turning the lampposts into the perfect canvas.

We are incredibly proud to have supported Your Acton BID on such a creative and community-focused project, and we look forward to seeing the artworks brighten the streets of Acton for the year to come.
