Tennis fever gripped Munich as the prestigious BMW Open, an ATP 500 tournament, returned to the city in April 2025. To boost the event’s visibility and create a vibrant atmosphere in the heart of the Bavarian capital, experienced event organisers MMP Event teamed up with Bay Media to deliver high-impact banner advertising in Munich.

Top Locations Secured
For major sporting events like the BMW Open, visibility in high-footfall areas is crucial. MMP Event recognised the value of reaching large audiences both before and during the tournament. Bay Media secured premium advertising locations along Neuhauser Straße and Kaufingerstraße – two of Munich’s busiest and most iconic pedestrian shopping streets.
This placement ensured the campaign message was seen daily by tens of thousands of residents and visitors, firmly embedding the event into the city’s collective consciousness.
Clear Messaging with Local Expertise
The campaign featured 40 double-sided lamppost banners, which were installed on 31st March and remained in place for the duration of the tournament until 22nd April. The strength of the banners lay in their clarity and local relevance.
With bold tournament branding, the hashtag (#einfachgroßestennis), and the City of Munich’s logo, the core message was instantly recognisable. The use of the friendly Bavarian greeting “Servus” alongside player names and fan-focused messages added a welcoming, local touch.
Successfully delivering this kind of banner advertising in Munich, especially at such central, in-demand locations, required careful planning and on-the-ground know-how. Bay Media leveraged its growing expertise within the DACH region and worked closely with the relevant city departments – including the Department of Labour and Economic Development – to ensure a smooth permit process and timely installation. This process showcased our growing expertise in navigating the specific requirements for out-of-home (OOH) advertising in Germany.

Building Excitement in the City
Our lamppost banners provided an ideal solution for MMP Event, known for creating “moments that matter”, helping them build excitement city-wide. The campaign naturally raised awareness, created a sense of occasion, enhanced the cityscape, and contributed to the general buzz surrounding the BMW Open.
This atmosphere perfectly complemented the excitement on court – which notably included the historic first ATP Tour win of 17-year-old German wildcard Diego Dedura-Palomero.
Impactful Advertising in Europe
This campaign for the BMW Open highlighted the effectiveness of lamppost banners as a key tool for event advertising in European cities. Their prominent positioning along busy pedestrian areas like Neuhauser Straße and Kaufingerstraße delivered outstanding visibility and highly targeted reach in Munich’s city centre.
The banners built event awareness and contributed significantly to the atmosphere of a major sporting occasion – demonstrating the value of this format for impactful banner advertising in Munich and beyond.
