The Client: Mairie de Rueil-Malmaison
Rueil-Malmaison, or simply Rueil, is a western suburb of Paris, located just 12 kilometres from the city’s centre. Recognised for its affluence and cultural richness, Rueil is honoured to host the French Rugby Team’s base camp for the 2023 World Cup.
The local authorities were looking to go beyond the limited impact of a few flags in the older parts of the city. They sought banners that would not only be highly visible but also embody the spirit of the World Cup: exciting, dynamic, and globally engaging. The banners were to be placed along routes that the French team’s bus would traverse, optimising both impact and visibility.

In advance of the campaign, eight compelling banner designs were created, all in line with World Rugby’s branding guidelines. One of the banner faces proudly highlights that Rueil-Malmaison is home to the ‘TEAM BASE CAMP,’ emphasising the city’s important role in hosting the French national team.
Another banner prominently features the ‘Ville de Rueil-Malmaison’ logo, underscoring the city’s pride in hosting the national team. Once received, we confirmed that the designs would meet all technical requirements before sending them off for printing. Our banners are all double-sided, providing eight distinct visual displays.
Two of the designs incorporate the World Rugby icon—a ‘W’ seamlessly integrated with a rugby ball shape. This core element is adorned with a Möbius strip-like ribbon, designed to represent a beating heart and to encourage connections among fans and the rugby community.
Placement and Installation
We provided Mairie de Rueil-Malmaison with several options for optimal column locations, mapping out prospective sites and evaluating the banners’ visual impact. On August 14th, 2023, a total of 61 banners were carefully installed. They will grace the streets of the city for the two and a half months, building anticipation leading up to the World Cup while maintaining a consistent presence throughout the event.
The majority of roadways selected for the campaign are adorned with single banners—one double-sided banner per lamppost. However, the largest and busiest boulevard in the commune offers a unique visual dynamic. Here, each lamppost supports dual banners, enhancing visibility and elevating the viewer’s experience. This setup makes the banners highly noticeable, whether for passing drivers, pedestrians, or media coverage.
